Our Story: Built on Vision, Resilience & Service

In 2011, during one of their late-night conversations about life and purpose, Todd and Lizette Souza began envisioning a different kind of real estate company—one rooted in integrity, innovation, and genuine service. With a bold “go big or go home” mindset, they laid the foundation for what would eventually become California Property Investment Group, Inc. (CALPIG).

They didn’t just want to sell homes—they wanted to help people find their home, whether renting or buying. They envisioned managing rental properties, buying and selling wholesale opportunities, and supporting clients in every facet of real estate. What started as a simple dream quickly evolved into a multi-service business model designed around one core question: “What does the public truly need that no one else is offering?”

A Unique Approach: Full-Service, Client-First

From day one, Todd and Lizette focused on offering three main services:

• Property Management

• Wholesale Investment Properties

They committed to operating with transparency, continued education, and thoughtful service—always putting themselves in the client’s shoes. They analyzed industry weaknesses, studied their competition, and decided to exceed expectations in every category. By diversifying their services, they weren’t just another brokerage—they became a One-Stop Real Estate Solution.

Unlike other firms focused on profit from a single stream, CALPIG was built to provide more service at a lower cost—without compromising quality. Their clients have no reason to look elsewhere, thanks to the full spectrum of services offered under one roof.

The Name Behind the Vision

Once their business model was clear, they needed a name that would stand out and speak to investors. Fortunately, California Property Investment Group was available. Affectionately abbreviated as CALPIG, the name inspired their memorable green piggy bank logo—symbolizing smart savings and financial growth for their clients. The color green was chosen intentionally, standing apart from the blues and reds common in the real estate industry.

In January 2012, CALPIG was officially incorporated. Lizette brought with her six years of experience in Real Estate and four years in full-service Property Management. Todd, a newcomer at the time, brought fresh perspective and relentless determination. Together, they committed time, resources, and heart to build a company they could be proud of.

Growth, Recognition & the Hall of Fame

By 2017, CALPIG had gained recognition for its hard work and strong reputation. Without their knowledge, Todd and Lizette were anonymously evaluated by individuals posing as clients. The results? They were selected for the 2017 Best of Sacramento Award in the Property Management category by the Sacramento Award Program.

The program recognizes companies that demonstrate excellence in marketing, service, and community contribution—qualities that CALPIG lives by. Since that initial award, Todd and Lizette have earned annual recognition and have now been inducted into the Sacramento Business Hall of Fame.
